{APPNAME} DATA USE AND PRIVACY POLICY
This privacy policy sets out how THING TECHNOLOGIES GmbH uses and protects any information that you give THING TECHNOLOGIES GmbH when you use the {APPNAME}.
THING TECHNOLOGIES GmbH is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.THING TECHNOLOGIES GmbH may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 6/30/2020.
GENERAL PURPOSE AND USE CASES
Thing-it supports Building Digitalization Use Cases to help you to
connect to functionality and services of a building (e.g. access control, room control, energy management) and interact with other users in their respective roles in and around a building (e.g. people finding, chat, service offers).
More specifically the {APPNAME} is used for one or more of the following:
communicate with other Thing-it users in a facility via chat channels and private chat groups access and maintain information regarding a facility, its tenants and its neighborhood – possibly dependent on the current location obtain access to and control of devices and equipment in a building (e.g. lighting, HVAC, window shades, elevators) grant and revoke access to parts of the facility by means of e.g. electronic locks, transport elements like elevators or parking gates determine the location of other users (e.g. co-workers) in and around the building to improve co-working scenarios and improve work efficiency book resources (meeting room, desks, parking lots, office equipment) for an efficient use of the same initiate incident management processes to efficiently and effectively address problems through facility managers, care-takers etc. order products and services from service providers in and around a facility, e.g. gastro and catering, entertainment or health improve efficient use of spaces and energy in and around a facility
USER REGISTRATION DATA
The {APPNAME} collects the following information:
- first name and last name
- email address
- user-defined alias
- salutation - if provided
- photo - if provided
- phone number - if provided
The provided Information may be used for communication with you and between you and other users. Whenever you request deletion of your data or your organization terminates the business relationship with THING TECHNOLOGIES GmbH and requests deletion of all employee or member data, a full anonymization of the above data is performed as follows
- first name,
- last name,
- salutation,
- alias and
- email address
are replaced by random data. Your
- photo - if provided,
- phone number - if provided,
- other personal data - if provided,
- chat contributions
are deleted entirely and persistently. Business process data explicitly or implicitly created by you such as
- contributions to wiki pages,
- filed incidents or
- orders of services and products
are not deleted. However, references to the respective your user record are redirected to a single technical user record not related to your user record to ensure data integrity but also completely anonymize your data.
LOCATION DATA
The {APPNAME} may obtain your indoor location and geolocation data with the following mechanisms:
- GPS in and around Buildings the Thing-it App is configured for
- Bluetooth Beacons
- Device Motion Patterns
- Barcode Scans or Hashcode Entry at specific Locations
By default, the calculated location is only used in the App and on the Mobile Device to provide specific services, e.g.
- support indoor and outdoor navigation,
- provide location-specific services and information or
- enable the user to perform location-specific tasks like checks.
For the above no user location data are stored on the phone nor transferred to or stored on the Thing-it Cloud Platform. Additionally, you can opt in/out to expose your indoor or geolocation to other users e.g. to be found in offices or other facilities. Once you opt out, your location data are purged instantaneously and persistently and you cannot be located anymore by other users.
USE OF MOTION DATA
The {APPNAME} requests access to the Mobile Device’s motion data for the sole purpose of optimizing the App’s activities regarding Beacon Ranging for Access Control, Point of Interest (POI) and Location processing to ultimately optimize the App’s battery consumption. Thing-it is not processing motion data for any other purpose and is never recording those data persistently on the Mobile Device or the Thing-it Cloud Platform.
USE OF GEOFENCING
The Thing-it App uses the Mobile Device's geofencing mechanisms to activate certain services in the proximity of the buildings configured for the user, e.g.
- Bluetooth Beacon Scanning
- Bluetooth Peripheral Advertisement or Bluetooth Scanning for Access Control
and hence optimization of battery consumption.
USE OF THE PHONE CAMERA(S)
{APPNAME} may attempt to use the phone's camera(s) for the sole purpose of indoor positioning via VLC (Visual Light Communication).
{APPNAME} will not process image and video data for other purposes nor store any image or video data obtained through the camera(s).
SECURITY
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at support@thing-it.com. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.
